A new sexing method was found for the adult of the West Indian sweet potato weevil, Euscepes Postfasciatus (Fairmaire) on the external characteristics of the metasternum, which is more or less depressed longitudinally in the central area and clothed with dense, semi-erect and ellipsoidal scales between the meso- and metacoxae in males, whereas in females, the metasternum is flat and these scales are sparser. Weevils are easily and surely sexed while keeping them alive on these characteristics when examined ventrally.
